Angel Funding
Concept summarized by Sam Mishra, MBA (MIT Sloan)
An Angel is someone who does the initial funding for a start-up in need of capital infusion. Angel funding is typical in Silicon Valley, and comes prior to multiple rounds of Venture Capital funding.
The negative term for an Angel is a Shark. This view holds that the Angel is interested in funding a start-up not to help the entrepreneur(s), but to gobble them up by commanding a large portion of the company in return for his initial funding(s).
