In the S-Curves Part II article, we saw how Linux disrupts Solaris. Now, Solaris and Linux are both Unix operating systems. An S-Curve can be drawn to encompass both the Solaris and Linux S-Curves, as shown below:

This encompassing Unix S-Curve shows how Unix as a technology would behave in terms of technology adoption as a function of time. As depicted, even though Linux is disrupting Solaris as the newer Unix O/S, Unix as an operating system technology is still taking off.
