Greenmail
Greenmail comes from the combination of two words: Greenback and Blackmail. Suppose company A and company B are not on friendly terms. Company A owns a lot of company B's stocks, which trade in public. Company B is afraid that Company A will take over Company B. To prevent the potential takeover, Company B pays a premium for its shares which Company A owns. This action by Company B to prevent being taken over by Company A is known as greenmailing.
